Arizona State University is exploring the potential of the Metaverse, a term for the virtual world that encompasses multiple forms of digital worlds, including virtual and augmented realities and mixed reality. A team of around 50 students at the ASU Learning Futures Collaboratory are working on expanding the Metaverse and testing practical applications of it. They have created the ASU Universe, a digital twin of the campus, where students can meet, walk the campus, do tours and take classes together without setting foot on campus. They also created the Career Arcade, which could be the future of internships, and a scavenger hunt using augmented reality like Pokemon Go.
